Greetings, fellow Zombies! Drink in hand, I’d like to examine the current status quo in the Marvel U. Earth 616 of the Marvel U. is currently embroiled in the events of Dark Reign. Norman Osborn is in charge, having emerged from the Secret Invasion triumphant as the man who commanded the Thunderbolts and killed the Skrull Queen. As a result, he was placed in charge of American security, and immediately disbanded S.H.I.E.L.D., the former preeminent peace-keeping force. Tony Stark, former leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been accused of having had knowledge that the Skrull Invasion was imminent, and has gone on the run as a result. In the wake of these events, Osborn instituted his own organization, H.A.M.M.E.R. He has his own Illuminati-like team of behind the scenes power players, the Cabal. And he’s even Assembled his own version of Dark Avengers, having criminals usurp the hero’s identities. It’s a dubious time to be a good guy in the Marvel U. right now.

Good guys like Spiderman and the New Avengers are in more danger now than they were as unregistered heroes during the Superhuman Registration Act. Some must go underground and avoid being captured for being unregistered, all while villains arrogantly break the law with no fear of repercussions. Some have criticized Dark Reign as just an extension in what was going on during Warren Ellis’ run on Thunderbolts. While that may be true, I’m still enjoying the storylines generated by this arc.
Osborn’s evolution from psychosis-inflicted Green Goblin to National Hero may strain credibility more than a bit, but his interactions with others in power have been a hoot. Dark Avengers is a great title, although it should be said that I haven’t liked Thunderbolts anywhere near as much since Dark reign began. These are details better suited to my upcoming reviews, however, so please forgive.
I’ve also enjoyed the machinations of the Cabal and am in eager anticipation of where it will all lead. Far away from Marvel’s Earth, the Kree and their leaders the Inhumans wage war with the Shi’ar and their King Vulcan in a War of Kings. Marvel’s cosmic heroes and villains like the Guardians of the Galaxy and Blastaar also abound in this arc. The ramifications of this Cosmic Event should be felt far and wide throughout the Marvel U.
I wasn’t sure about this series when it began, and in fact planned not to buy it. I’m glad I changed my mind and picked it up. Again, I’ll be reviewing the series as a whole, so that’s all I’ll say about its quality for now. I’m hoping that this simplistic little summing up will allow those that may have taken a break from Marvel books to be able to follow along with what I’m blathering about. I also hope it wasn’t dumbed down to the point of insult for those in the know.

Besides commenting on Marvel events both past and present, I’ll also be reviewing current Marvel Comics on the site MarvelComicBooks.org. The books will be graded on a 5 star rating system, and I’ll be reviewing an individual comic’s single issues, story arcs, and mini-series as a whole. I’ll also be reviewing adaptations of Marvel properties, such as big budget films like Iron Man and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, as well as the animated DVD movies Marvel has released, like Ultimate Avengers.
Reviews are to be taken on a book-by-book or movie-by-movie basis, and are not meant to be comparative. I currently collect 23-25(!) Marvel Titles a month, and that’s not counting all the one-shots and mini-series.
I’d say I average about $35-$40 a week on Marvel comics, much to my girlfriend’s dismay. So, I’m hoping that my prolific collecting means that I’ll be reviewing books that will appeal to a wide range of potential readers.
And let me just state once again that my opinion on these books isn’t right or wrong; It’s just my opinion. I’m genuinly hoping that whether you agree with me or not, my reviews will prompt you to write in and let me know what YOU think about the Marvel Comic I just praised or trashed.
A writer that I’m currently enjoying, like Ed Brubaker, may not be as appealing to another reader. My hometown boy David Finch, an artist whose work I adore, may not be as highly regarded by somebody else… as blasphemous as that is. Wow, I can hear the teeth-gnashing already! lol One man’s Secret Wars may be another person’s House of M, and I’ll leave it up to you to decide which of those belong on the good and bad ends of the spectrum.
I basically want a shared love of the medium of comics in general, and Marvel Comics specifically, to bring people together and spark conversation so that we all may benefit from the viewpoints of others. Let us all Assemble like the Avengers!lol
Oh, and I’ve intertwined some Marvel auctions into the site as well, mostly to keep things in one tidy place when I’m feeling to itch to expand my collection!

Some parents are getting quite hesitant in letting their children play online games because of all the trouble and negative situations that kids can find on the internet this days. I have found that by letting my daughter play kids online games, she actually comprehends more than the characters are teaching or showing on the television. But of course you don’t want to use the internet as a babysitter for your kids, not all the time.
On the computer, she has to count for herself – not just count along with the voices coming through the TV speakers. There are lots of other tasks that she has to accomplish for herself. While she hasn’t gotten into the Webkinz kids online games like many other children have, I know that if she does express an interest, that is a very safe and educational site as well.
A lot of time and energy has been spent putting together online games that children can find and play safely. It certainly will be a lot more difficult for a predator to target children when playing specific kids online games. I always make sure that I check on my daughter every few moments just to make sure that all is well, she’s still having fun and to make sure that she’s not breaking my computer!
It isn’t hard to find online kids games. If your child watches any stations that cater to only children’s shows, chances are, they are advertising games for the internet. Or, you can simply google a few sites. Be careful though, letting your children engage in kids online games just may make them more of a computer genius than you are!

There have been official movie video games pretty much as long as there have been methods to play video and console games.
